Several online media outlets are reporting that a baby has been cured of HIV as a result of a more aggressive treatment. The baby, born in Mississippi, was treated with antiretroviral drugs within 30 hours after birth. Once confirmed, the baby will be the second documented case of a cured HIV patient. The first was a Timothy Brown (a.k.a. 'Berlin patient') who has leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant from a donor who was genetically resistant to HIV.
