[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD] No doubt Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity film is one, if not the most beautiful space movies I've seen. I am no expert in space science but the simulations are very realistic. Here's the problem though: experts are saying there are a lot of inconsistencies that defy the laws of science. Here are some of them:

1. In one of the most important scenes of the movie, George Clooney had to unbuckle himself because something (which I assume gravity) is pulling him away from Sandra Bullock. Scientists are saying that this is not accurate. Clooney was not being pulled by Earth's gravity. A gentle tug by Bullock would have brought him towards her and they could have moved closer to the station.

2. Most of the articles I've read talk about the distance of the space stations. In the movie, Bullock was surprisingly very lucky to have spacewalked to the Russian Soyuz and the Chinese Shenzou which seem to be near the International Space Shuttle. In reality, these shuttles are nowhere near each other.

3. Given that the shuttles are nowhere near each other, the path of the debris which orbits the earth within 90 minutes and damaged the Hubble, is inaccurate.

4. Clooney was the one who had a Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU). Bullock doesn't have one. He improvises but grabbing a fire extinguisher and maneuvers herself back to the Shenzou. It's pretty amazing...except this is really very difficult to do in reality, experts say.
