Hooray for the Catholic Church! A new pope has been elected! Former Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires, Argentina was just named the 13th pope and the successor of Pope Emeritus Ratzinger. The National Catholic Reporter reported that Bergoglio was a 'finalist' during the 2005 conclave. He was a close second but Ratzinger was elected pope. He will be known as Pope Francis I.
